Who are In2Cultures?

Liz and Devinder formerly worked for Warwickshire Education Authority before setting up In2Cultures.  With a keen interest in multicultural arts, Liz was originally a graphic designer by trade and has many years of practical experience working in schools.  Devinder formed Punjab Arts Bhangra Group which performed in Europe and at many music festivals across the country.  Both have a passion for African percussion and multicultural creative arts, and love sharing their knowledge and expertise with schools and the community.  They run weekly workshops for African drumming and Bhangra dancing in Stratford and Leamington Spa.

In2Cultures were delighted to be finalists in the ‘Educator of the Year’ category at the Pride of Stratford Awards 2014 and have worked extensively throughout Warwickshire and the surrounding counties undertaking multicultural projects and performances.

In2Cultures achievements include their Bhangra dance team, Suruj, receiving an award from the House of Commons for promoting Punjabi culture in this country.  Their dance performance venues include the House of Commons, the American Embassy, the Coventry Cohesion Awards and a festival in Spain.  They have also worked with the RSC to deliver a workshop using African drumming and Shakespeare’s language.

The company organises three important Multicultural Youth Showcases around the county involving schools and community groups, as well as supporting the Guide Dogs Association and the world famous African Children’s Choir.

They LOVED your session, and were so impressed and really taken by how the patients got involved. They will be telling everyone it was the highlight of their stay in hospital.

Thank you both so much for an incredible two days; the children thoroughly enjoyed, and so did the teachers! You’re both fantastic at what you do, such inspiring talents for the children to see. I’m so glad you visited our school and look forward to welcoming you both again in the future.

We all enjoyed building up the dance – a fantastic multicultural experience taught with enthusiasm and understanding of children.  A big thank you from all of us.

Teacher - St James and Ebrington Primary

Children really enjoyed the dancing and singing and really engaged, even some children who don’t normally respond well in dance.

Year 4 children at St Margaret’s C of E Junior School are still buzzing from the exciting and energetic Bhangra dancing and drumming you brought to our school! What a fabulous and inspiring way to launch our India Topic – thank you Devinder and Liz!

Budbrooke Primary School

We would like to say thank you for teaching us stories, art and dancing all the way from Africa.  It inspired us to try our best and be confident and keep smiling!

“Thanks for a wonderful evening of entertainment at Bidford-on-avon Primary School. If you ever need a new recruit, I know a young man who would want the job!  My son beamed his way through the performance and has been driving us mad at home with his African singing and drumming. Great fun and an unexpected work out at the end. Thank you. ”
